Monsieur et Madam Defau's gift from Bordeaux
EXCERPT FROM SARA’S JOURNAL

December 6, 1998

Near Urrugne

Cote Basque

The babbling of the Nivelle makes white noise like the womb. Our sleep is bathed in dreams and comfort. Rich wants it to rain and reminisces about a Vancouver winter.

The gite takes first place for warmth. It has something to do with the second floor. The heat from the electric radiator climbs up the stairs and into the bedroom. It’s cozy up here with the river below our window.

We buy a traversant case at the Carrefour. A traversant is a bolster pillow. It looks like a giant sausage and takes some getting used to. The traversant case is a massive condom and takes the two of us to pull it over the bolster.

Madam et Monsieur Defau drive back to Bordeaux and leave us with a Chateau de By, de Medoc. We’re flabbergasted with their generosity but don’t tell them we have capped our wine budget at a punchy 8F bottle of Vin de Pays. It’s made with the grapes stomped by the guy with the grubby feet.

Rich kills mosey 3.0 and publishes mosey 4.0. The evening is spent checking the sight and hoping things have updated successfully. I’ve discovered the live edit. This is when I surf the sight and make changes online. The editing can go on forever.
