That day we were pressure testing a segment of the line. We needed to record the pressure at certain stations along the pipeline. I was driving a Jeep. I stopped near the meter station, disembarked and started towards the meter, which was about a hundred yards away .Half way there a small rock about the size of a water melon startled me by splitting into two pieces because of the heat. For the first time in my life I witnessed weathering due to heat.
